HEAVY EQUIPMENT MONITORING AND CONTROL SYSTEMS

There are many types of specially-designed heavy equipment owned by municipalities and private sector, such as road sweepers, asphalt pavers, gritters, snow ploughs and solution spreaders. Although they may be employed as part of a fleet, these heavy equipment generally carry out their duties individually according to the instructions received by directors and without coordination with other heavy equipment. In this project, the monitoring and control system developed by TROY IOT helps vehicles to carry out various functions such as ploughing and spreading salt and solution. With the help of GPS, route and speed information pertaining to snow ploughs weather conditions/ temperature and the amount of salt, aggregate, and solution spread are measured.

The monitoring system developed by TROY IOT transfers and stores data to a centre using GPRS or 3G technology. Heavy Equipment Monitoring and Control Systems use interfaces that allow a main centre to monitor these variables and evaluate performance. There is also a smart route recommendation system that can be integrated with geographical information systems so as to ensure decreased material, labour and fuel costs. The control panel designed and developed by TROY IOT also allows controlling plow blade as well as other functions such as salt and aggregate choice, switching to and from solution, discharge, spreading, and width adjustment.
